Vol. 10 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FEES FOR ADMINISTERING OATHS.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of allegations to the effect that in certain cases Peace Commissioners have demanded and have obtained fees for administering oaths, and whether he can say if they are legally entitled to make any such charge.

Peace Commissioners are not entitled to any fees. I have had one complaint of the nature referred to; it has only reached me within the last few days, and I am investigating it.

Is any penalty imposed on Peace Commissioners who ask for such fees?

I presume there would be, but the Minister is only investigating this case at present.
