asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is in a position to state whether the Great Southern Railways Company contemplate importing a number of locomotives; if he is aware that the necessary plant and machinery and skilled labour is available at the Inchicore and Broadstone Railway Works for the manufacture of all railway rolling stock requirements; whether he will make representations with a view to having all such work executed in the Saorstát.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MANUFACTURE OF RAILWAY ROLLING STOCK.
I am informed by the Great Southern Railways Company that while it will be necessary to import materials and, in some cases, made-up parts, the plant, machinery and labour available at the Inchicore and Broadstone works will be employed to their full capacity, and that the company has no intention of importing locomotives.
