Vol. 11 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS ORAL ANSWERS. - RECONSTRUCTION OF TRIM COUNTY HOME.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will state the cause of the delay in having the County Home at Trim, Co. Meath, reconstructed and made habitable; whether he will see that no further delay is experienced in the matter of the reconstruction and equipment of the Meath County Home, and thus relieve congestion in the building.

I would refer the Deputy to my answer to Deputy Mulvaney on this subject on the 10th ultimo. The inspection made subsequently showed that the number in the county home was not abnormal and did not result in undue congestion, but steps were taken to have a spare room provided in case of necessity. The delay in carrying out the work referred to by the Deputy seems to be due to the action of the Board of Health in the choice of a clerk of works. I understand, however, that the Board have now given notice that they will appoint a clerk of works at their meeting this month.
