Vol. 11 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PARCEL DELIVERY FEE.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is in a position to state approximately the number and the value of parcels entering the Saorstát for the period since the imposition of the delivery fee of 6d. and for a corresponding period previously.

Prior to the imposition of the Delivery Fee about 54,000 parcels weekly were imported by post. A return taken recently shows that the number has fallen to 39,000 weekly. There is no information available in my Department as to the value of the parcels.

Is not a declared value put on every parcel?

No, not on every parcel.
