CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TRADE LOANS (GUARANTEE) ACT.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he can state the number of applications received for guarantees under Parts 1 and 2 respectively of the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Act, 1924, and the number of cases in which the Advisory Committee have recommended that a guarantee should be given.

Two hundred and thirty-nine applications for guarantees under Section 1 of the Act have been received and twenty-seven applications for loans or guarantees under Section 2. The Advisory Committee appointed to consider applications under Section 1 has recommended that guarantees should be given in sixteen cases, and the Advisory Committee appointed to deal with applications under Section 2 has recommended that guarantees should be given in three cases.

Can the Minister say whether the Advisory Committee recommended a loan to the Kildare Co-operative Society?

A loan was recommended to the Kildare Co-operative Society.

Can the Minister give us any idea of the amount involved in these acceptances?

About £300,000 is involved in the 27 applications under Part I. and £5,500 in the three under Part II.
