Vol. 11 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RELIEVING OFFICERS' COMPENSATION (PORTLAOIGHISE).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received requests from the Leix County Council and Board of Health for sanction to pay the compensation granted to Richard P. Bannan, Portlaoighise, Leix, for loss of office as late relieving officer to the Mountmellick Board of Guardians, and if he can now sanction payment of the amount so long overdue in this case.

In this case a gratuity was allowed by the late Board of Guardians of Mountmellick Union in pursuance of Section 8 of the Local Government Act, 1919. Under this section my only function is to determine the right to, and the amount of, a gratuity in case of dispute. No dispute has arisen, and I have, therefore, no functions in the matter.
