Vol. 11 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLOSING OF NAAS ROAD.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the Dublin County Council have made application for an Order under Section 29 of the Local Government Act, 1925, to close the Naas Road between Farren's and Inchicore Bridge for a period of three months for its reconstruction; that this Order will cause considerable inconvenience to residents on this road; that Messrs. Lambs' Jam Factory will be obliged to close down as a result; and whether, in view of these facts, he will make arrangements whereby this factory will be enabled to continue its trading, and keep its employees engaged during the reconstruction of the road.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I have received representations to the effect stated in the second and third parts of the question, and I will consider them before issuing an Order under Section 29 of the Local Government Act, 1925. I hope to make arrangements under which the minimum of inconvenience will be caused.
