Vol. 11 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIMS OF WEXFORD EVICTED TENANTS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state the result of the inquiries made by his inspectors in County Wexford in connection with the claims of evicted tenants.

An Inspector of the Land Commission has been engaged in County Wexford for some time past in making enquiries into applications under the Evicted Tenants' Provisions of the Land Purchase Acts, and has furnished to the Commission reports on a considerable number of these cases. His investigations have not yet been completed, and accordingly the Commissioners are not at present in a position to say what action will be taken as regards these applications. To date, the Inspector has furnished over 200 reports, about half of which are in respect of cases in which no previous application had been made to the Land Commission. These reports are at present under consideration, and will, together with such additional cases as the Inspector may report upon, be ruled on by the Commissioners as soon as practicable. Such applications as may be approved will be considered on the sale of the estates on which the former holdings of the applicants are situate, or in the distribution of such untenanted land as the Land Commission may acquire and have available for the purpose.

Will the Minister communicate the final decision?

Mr. HOGAN

I will let the Deputy know.
