Vol. 11 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OPENING OF MONAGHAN TELEPHONE OFFICE.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state when it is proposed to open the public telephone office at Doohamlet, near Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan.

The question of establishing a small telephone exchange or alternatively a call office at Doohamlet is being considered, and it is hoped to arrive at a decision in the matter at an early date. I will communicate the result to the Deputy in due course.

Is this place Doohamlet on the map at all?

Is the Minister aware that the people in this district have been experimenting in the growing of beet root for the last 20 years, and that in view of the development of that industry under the Budget they are anxious to be prepared in the way of having a suitable telephone service when the new factory is started?
