Vol. 11 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REPAIR OF BRIDGES.

DOMHNALL O MOCHAIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the original estimate of the Cork County Council for the repairing of one arch of the Shanow Bridge, Banteer; whether it was owing to the faulty repairing of this arch and careless supervision, that it and the two other arches of the bridge fell; further, if he can state the amount of the second estimate, and the cost of the second reconstruction, and whether he will make inquiries as to the person or persons responsible for this heavy expenditure on the ratepayers.

DOMHNALL O MOCHAIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the original estimate of the Cork County Council through their County Surveyor for the rebuilding of the Cullen Bridge, Millstreet; whether this work was put up for contract and whether tenders had been received, or whether instructions were given to have the work carried out by direct labour, and if so, whether ex-members of the National Army were to get first preference in employment thereon.

I am now answering Questions 11 and 12. I am making inquiries in these matters, and if the Deputy would set them down again on any day next week I hope to be in a position to reply.
