Vol. 11 No. 19

ORDER OF BUSINESS.

With regard to the order of business for to-day, we propose to take Nos. 1, 2 and 3 as they appear on the Order Paper. We propose to leave out No. 4 (Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Bill) and to take items Nos. 5 and 6 if we get so far.

With regard to item No. 9, which is a motion in the name of Deputy Heffernan, is it proposed to take that at 2 o'clock in private members time?

In connection with that motion, I may say that I will not be able to supply the Deputy to-day with the information he asks for.

I understand that the Minister is not able to supply me with all the information that I asked for in the motion which appears in my name on the Order Paper. I would suggest, however, that he would supply me with as much information as he has at the moment, and that later he would let me have the full details.

I am afraid I would not be able to supply the Deputy with any of the information for the reason that the rates have not yet been legally struck.

Does that apply to the whole country, or only to particular counties?

To the whole country. Until the rate books have been signed, the rates cannot be said to have been legally struck.

Am I to understand that the Minister will be able to supply me with the information eventually?

I expect to be able to give you the information, but I certainly will not be able to do that for a month or so.

But when you are in a position to supply the information you will do so?

Then I am willing to withdraw the motion for the present.

Motion, by leave, withdrawn.

With regard to item No. 7 on the Order Paper (Fisheries Bill, 1925—Report Stage), is it proposed to take it to-day?

If we get so far, yes, but I do not think we will.

I mention the matter because we have not yet received the Government amendments.

Are we to understand that item No. 4 (Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Bill, is not to be taken to-day?

Can we have any expectation as to when it will be taken?

I have come to an understanding with the President that this Bill will get some place on the programme on Tuesday next.

The Minister, I am sure, recognises that there is a difference between a place on the programme and the actual performance.

I recognise it so well that I will move for an early place for it on Tuesday's programme.
