Vol. 11 No. 20

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ERRIFF RIVER FLOODING.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the Land Commission has received representations from the tenants in the Derrycraff and Aasleigh districts, Co. Mayo, whose lands are affected by the flooding of the Erriff River and its main tributary, urging that drainage works should be carried out in accordance with the provisions stated to have been made by the late Congested Districts Board when these tenants were placed on their new holdings, and whether any action will be taken by the Land Commission to have this work carried out during the coming summer.

Complaints have been received from time to time from tenants in Derrycraff and Aasleigh districts, Co. Mayo, of flooding by the Erriff River and tributary. No provision was ever made by the Congested Districts Board for drainage works nor are the Land Commission prepared to undertake them.
