Vol. 11 No. 20

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CORK MERCHANT'S CLAIM AGAINST ARMY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Mr. J. D. Clifford, merchant, Castlemartyr, Co. Cork, has made a claim against the Army Authorities in respect of monies due for goods supplied troops in Castlemartyr and other areas in 1922, 1923, and 1924; whether this claim has been investigated, and, if so, with what result, and whether payment will be expedited.

Two claims have been received in the Department of Defence from Mr. Clifford. One of these, amounting to £2 7s. 3d., related to the billetting of troops, was discharged on the 1st September last by a payment of £1 12s. 0d., which was accepted in full settlement. The other, amounting to £3, in respect of sacks supplied, has not yet been completely investigated, but its disposal will be effected as speedily as possible.
