CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NATIONAL SCHOOL TEACHERS AND IRISH.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the number of teachers, evclusive of members of religious communities, who were employed in ordinary and Model National Schools on 31st March, 1925 (or, alternatively, on 31st December, 1924) and also the number of such teachers who hold (1) the full certificate of competency to teach Irish; (2) the bilingual certificate.

The number of persons (exclusive of members of religious communities) employed in ordinary and Model National Schools, either as principal teachers, assistant teachers, or junior assistant mistresses on 31st December, 1924, was approximately 11,050.

The number of such teachers who have passed examinations for (a) the full certificate in Irish; (b) the bilingual certificate and (c) the Ard Teastas, is as follows:—
