Vol. 12 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MARRIAGE SEPARATION ALLOWANCE (NAAS).

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Mrs. P. Desmond, Limerick Bridge, Naas, Co. Kildare, was paid only £4 12s. marriage separation allowance in respect of the first eight weeks of her husband's service; that her husband, Volunteer Daniel Desmond, Army No. 2406, attested on the 28th July, 1922, and was discharged on the 9th August, 1923, and whether he will expedite payment of arrears to Mrs. Desmond.

I would refer the Deputy to a question asked by Deputy Wolfe on the 29th January, 1924. During the first eight weeks of Volunteer Desmond's service, the following sums were issued as dependents' allowance, namely:—£4 12s. 0d. on the 25th August; £2 16s. 0d. on the 5th September, and £2 16s. 0d. on the 20th September, 1922.

There are no arrears of the allowance due to Mrs. Desmond.
