Vol. 12 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. (ORAL ANSWERS.) - GRANT TO LISTOWEL RENT COLLECTOR.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that on January 16th, 1925, the Rural District Council of Listowel unanimously passed a resolution granting Michael Enright, Ballylongford (who has been collector of water rents and custodian of the Ballylongford Waterworks for a period of twenty-eight years), the sum of fifty pounds; whether the Minister has refused to sanction this grant on the grounds that a collector was not a whole-time officer; and whether this was the only reason the grant was not sanctioned.

This case was very fully investigated. It was established that he did not possess the primary qualification of whole-time service, and that the proposal of the Listowel Rural District Council to grant him an allowance on ceasing to hold office was unauthorised.
