Vol. 12 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that ex-Sergeant Michael Delaney, of Brownstown Road, Curragh Camp, National Army, No. V.R. 5201, and Unemployment Insurance Book No. 2560, Droichead Nua Branch Office, was, it is stated, allowed ninety days' unemployment benefit on his claim lodged on the 10th March, 1925, and was paid only eight days' benefit, and whether he will state the reason for withholding payment for the remainder of the period, as Mr. Delaney states that he has the full number of stamps to his credit from 1912 to the date of his joining the Army, with the exception of a three weeks' period for which he received unemployment benefit.

Michael Delaney Brownstown Road, Curragh Camp, Unemployment Insurance Book, No. 2560, Droichead Nua, claimed unemployment insurance benefit at the Droichead Nua Branch Office on the 10th March, 1925. On this claim he was paid eight days' benefit up to and including the 25th March, 1925, on which date the Fourth Benefit Year terminated. Mr. Delaney made a further claim on the 26th March, 1925, on which a decision could not be given for some time owing to the fact that his title to contributions under Section 4 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1924, was in doubt. This question has now been determined in Mr. Delaney's favour, and consequently his claim has been authorised for 90 days, which is the maximum period of benefit allowable in the current benefit year. Payment of all benefit due to Mr. Delaney will, accordingly, be made to him at the Branch Office on Friday next.
