CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FEMALE CIVIL SERVANTS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (1) how many women above the rank of clerical officer are employed in the Department of Finance; how many women hold appointments above the rank of clerical officer in the Civil Service Commission and in the various Departments at present housed in Government Buildings, Merrion Street; (2) how many women establishment officers are employed in (a) the Department of Industry and Commerce, (b) Department of Posts and Telegraphs, (c) Department of Education, (d) Department of Local Government and Public Health, and (e) Department of Lands and Agriculture.

No women above the rank of clerical officers are employed in the office of the Civil Service Commission or in the other offices included under the Department of Finance. One woman above the rank of clerical officer is at present employed in the Government Buildings in Merrion street. There are no women officers dealing with establishment matters in the other Departments referred to. If the Question is intended to apply to the number of women who are on the permanent established staff in those Departments, the information is as follows:—
