Vol. 13 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WEXFORD UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit is not being paid to Mr. Thomas Murphy, Rosemount, Wexford.

Unemployment benefit is not being paid to Mr. Thomas Murphy, of Rosemount, Wexford, because there are no unexhausted contributions to the credit of his account with the Unemployment Fund.

Would the Minister say how that view is arrived at, in view of the fact that the man had 179 contributions to his credit since 26th September, 1918.

I cannot do the calculation here, but I find that he has received a total of 450 days benefit. Putting these two things together, I assume that the answer is correct, and that he has no unexhausted right to benefit.

Is there not a certain number of stamps required within a certain period, which would enable a man to get a certain benefit inside this current year? Would the Minister say whether he has got that benefit inside this current year?

Is the Minister satisfied that this man's case has not been mixed up with another man's case in Roestown, as happened before in this man's case?

I cannot answer that. It is possible. We will get particulars of the questions from the Official Report, and we will have the matter inquired into.
