Vol. 14 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PROVISION FOR DISABLED SOLDIERS.

asked the President if it is the intention of the Executive Council to introduce a Bill making provision for the payment of pensions or compensation to ex-members of the National Army who are suffering from disabilities owing to injuries received while in the Army, but whose cases do not come within the provisions of the Army Pensions Act, 1923, owing to their injuries having been received subsequent to the date specified in the Act.

The cases of ex-members of the National Army who suffered disability or death owing to injuries received while in the Army subsequent to 30th September, 1923, are being considered in connection with the proposed legislation amending the Army Pensions Act, 1923.

Is the Minister able to indicate now when the Bill is likely to be introduced?

I think all the outstanding points in connection with it have been agreed upon, and there will not be very much delay. Very definite progress has been made within the last month or two.
