NEGOTIATIONS WITH EXTERNAL GOVERNMENTS. - BUSINESS OF THE DÁIL.
Could the President give us any idea of the business for the week following the next meeting? Is it possible for us to know what business will be taken for that week? We have two Bills on the list, the Committee Stage of the Court Orders Bill, and the Court Officers Bill, Second Stage.
We have the Committee Stage of the Enforcement of Court Orders Bill, the Second Stage of the Court Officers Bill, the Second Stage of the Compensation Bill which was introduced to-day, the Statistics Bill, with amendments from the Seanad, and the Report Stage of the School Attendance Bill.
Will that be the complete business for that week?
On short notice I could not answer that, but if there is to be any extra business I undertake to inform the Ceann Comhairle or to send an intimation of that business to Deputies.
Could the President or the Minister for Finance tell us when we shall have the Vote on Account and the Central Fund Bill?
I could not say now.
We do not know whether or not we will be ready on the reassembling of the Dáil. I am afraid I could hardly promise it for that week.
The Minister knows how undesirable it is to have it hurried through at the last moment. He has given pledges against that in the past.
In view of the obvious scarcity of business will the President facilitate the Minister for Local Government to get through the Rating Bill?
As far as ordinary normal facilities are concerned, I should say "Yes," but I could not go farther than that. I do not know in what state the proposals, in connection with that measure, are at present, whether or not they have actually been decided upon, and I am afraid I could not give any undertaking as to an early date for its introduction.
