CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CONFISCATED GUN AND AMMUNITION (ATHLONE).

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that a gun and cartridges valued at £15 12s. 9d., the property of Mr. Thomas Plunkett, Tullywood, Baylin, Athlone, was confiscated by Irish Volunteers on July 7th, 1920, and, if the gun cannot be returned, whether the claimant will receive compensation; that on November 19th, 1924, it was stated that the claim in respect of these articles was transferred from the Department of Defence to his Department for reference to the Committee appointed under the Indemnity Act, 1924, and if he is in a position to announce a decision in this case.

The claim referred to by the Deputy was duly considered by the Committee appointed under the Indemnity Act, and a paying order in discharge of the claim was sent to the applicant on 19th ultimo.
