Vol. 14 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SECONDARY TEACHERS' SALARIES.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the average salary being paid during the current school year by secondary schools to registered secondary teachers, men and women resident and non-resident.

I have no official information regarding the salaries, if any, paid by secondary schools to those of their registered teachers who are priests or members of Religious Orders. The following figures give the average rate of salary (exclusive of increments) paid during the current school year for all registered teachers (other than those in the classes referred to) who have applied for increments of salary:—

(a) Men: Non-resident, £231; resident, £180.

(b) Women: Non-resident, £178; resident, £143.
