Vol. 14 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR MILITARY PENSION.

asked the Minister for Defence if a claim for a military service pension has been received from George Brown, Newcastle, Kyle, Co. Wexford; if the claim has been considered, and with what result.

I have received from Mr. Brown an application for a certificate of military service under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924. As he does not claim to have served in the National Forces at any time subsequent to the 1st July, 1922, and prior to the 1st October, 1923, as required by sub-section 2 (4) of the Act, I regret that I have no power to consider his application.

Is the Minister aware that this young man lost an arm in pre-Truce days in the service of his country?

That is a different question; that would come under the Wounds Pension Act.

Would the Minister see that he gets an answer to his application now?

I do not know whether he has applied or not.

I thought the Minister had admitted that he has applied?

For a military service pension, and he is not entitled to that.

Surely he is entitled to some information when he writes to the Minister, after losing an arm in the service of his country?

If he writes to the Minister he will get a reply.

He has done it.
