Vol. 14 No. 14

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SCHULL TRADER'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance whether payment on foot of a report on a claim for meat commandeered from Mr. J. McCarthy, Schull, Co. Cork (amount of report, £70), has been refused by his Department on the ground that the meat was voluntarily given; whether, in view of the fact that Mr. McCarthy has denied the statement entirely and that local responsible persons have vouched, or are willing to vouch, for the truth of Mr. McCarthy's contention, he will further consider this claim with a view to making payment.

Payment was refused for the reason stated by the Deputy. Enquiries subsequently made from parties suggested by the applicant's solicitor did not disprove that the goods were voluntarily supplied, and no further investigation is warranted.
