Vol. 14 No. 16

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ADARE COMPENSATION AWARD.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the Wood Renton Commission made the following awards in favour of Mrs. Fitzgerald Hassett, Main Street, Adare, viz., compensation amounting to £80, with £28 condition attached for reinstatement, and £6 6s. 0d. interest at 5 per cent. for April 1st, 1925, and costs and expenses, notification of which was sent to applicant on May 4th 1925; also compensation amounting to £75, with £3 3s. 0d. interest at 5 per cent. from April 1st, 1925, and costs and expenses which was notified to claimant on June 22nd, 1925; whether these amounts have yet been paid to claimant, and, if not, whether he will now expedite payment.

The awards referred to by the Deputy have been received, but inasmuch as the total unconditional portion is insufficient to meet the claim of the White Cross Trustees who have a first charge on the compensation payable to the extent of £200 0s. 0d. the question of expediting payment to the original claimant does not arise. One of the awards has, in fact, been already paid over to the Trustees and the claimant has been made aware of the action taken.
