Vol. 14 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DISABILITY PENSION CLAIM (WEXFORD).

asked the Minister for Defence if a claim for a disability pension has been received from Mr. A. Doyle, Effernogue, Ferns, Co. Wexford; if the claim has been investigated, and with what result.

Mr. A. Doyle claimed under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, in respect of a weak right leg attributed by him to a tear from barbed wire received in 1916. According to medical evidence supplied by the claimant, his disabiliay at present consists of varicose veins, which, I am advised, could not arise as a result of injury from barbed wire. In the circumstances, no award could be made to him within the terms of the Army Pensions Act, 1923, and he was so informed on the 30th September last.
