Vol. 15 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - REFUND OF DUTY.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a claim for 19s. 4d. paid by Mr. J. Noonan, Ballymahon, Co. Longford, in connection with a consignment of ladies' coats from Marmac Ltd., London; whether he is aware that the claim arises out of the fact that £6 8s. 3d. worth of the goods were returned, and whether he is entitled to a refund of the duty paid on the goods returned.

The claim referred to has not been received.

In regard to the last part of the question, there is no provision for the repayment of duty paid on imported articles of personal clothing and wearing apparel in cases where the articles have been released from official charge and have been subsequently returned to the senders abroad.
