asked the Minister for Defence whether a claim for compensation for the loss of his son killed in the fight against the British on April 19th, 1921, made by Patrick McDermott, of Brackloon, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon, has been refused; whether both the claimant and his wife are up to eighty years of age; whether their remaining son is an invalid; whether they have now to employ help to enable them to work their farm of fourteen acres; and whether, in view of all this, the Minister would be prepared to reconsider his decision.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ROSCOMMON COMPENSATION CLAIM.
Mr. McDermott's claim was dealt with under the Army Pensions Act, 1923. Investigations showed that the claimant was not dependent on his son prior to the death of the latter. I regret that the claim had therefore to be disallowed.
