Vol. 15 No. 10

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REFUSAL OF GUN PERMIT.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that Mr. William Crotty, farmer, Coolnamuck, Carrick-on-Suir, has been refused a permit to keep a gun which he requires for the protection of his crops, and if he will state the grounds on which the refusal is based.

The Superintendent of the Gárda Síochána refused the application of Mr. William Crotty for a firearm certificate because he was not satisfied that Mr. Crotty could be permitted to have in his possession a firearm without danger to the public safety. The Superintendent exercised the discretion conferred on him by the Firearms Act, 1925, and I do not propose to interfere in the matter.
