Vol. 15 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EVICTED TENANT'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he will state why the claim and application of an evicted tenant named Michael Sheerin, Beamore, Drogheda, was refused by the Land Commission in the division of the lands of the Cooper estate at Calliaghstown, County Meath; whether he is aware that a pensioner policeman was allotted twenty-five acres on the said estate, and if he will state why he got preference over the evicted tenant.

Mr. HOGAN

In the exercise of their discretion the Land Commission did not make an allotment to Michael Sheerin, who is not an evicted tenant, but the son of a tenant evicted from a holding of 18 acres on the estate of George Knaggs. His father was, in 1908, provided by the Estates Commissioners as an evicted tenant, with a holding of 49 acres, and was given financial assistance for stock and buildings.
