Vol. 15 No. 13

BUSINESS OF THE DÁIL.

I propose to take the Agenda in the order in which the items are set out, with the exception of No. 7, the Court Officers Bill, 1926 (Report), with this reservation, that the Bills which fall to the administration of the Department of Justice might, if accommodation be not reached in regard to certain points, have to be discharged to-day and put down for another day. It is possible that we may deal with them but in the event of our not being able to do so, it would be better to wait for the attendance of the Minister. With regard to No. 14, which deals with a motion by Deputy Cooper in reference to Gárda Síochána allowances, the Deputy would perhaps agree to leave that over until to-morrow when it could be taken after the tea adjournment if the Minister for Justice is here.

I would be willing to facilitate the President and the Minister, but my difficulty is that if it is not discussed to-day the Order will become law. I would, however, be willing to take the assurance of the President or of the Minister, that if the debate to-morrow convinces the Government that a change in the Order should be made they would bring in a fresh Order.

I would be prepared to accept that.

Orders Nos. 7 and 8 discharged; to be taken on Tuesday, May 18th.
