Vol. 16 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT IN MEATH.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether in view of existing privations and hardships in the urban areas of Trim, Navan, and Kells, Co. Meath, as a result of unemployment, he will allocate substantial grants to those centres for the relief of unemployment.

There are at present no funds at the disposal of my Department out of which grants could be made for the relief of unemployment in the areas referred to. The amount provided in the present year's estimates is earmarked for the completion of relief works which were started in the last financial year, and uncompleted on the 31st of March, 1926. It is not contemplated that there should be a continuance of relief works during the summer months.
