LOCAL GOVERNMENT (COLLECTION OF RATES) BILL, 1926—SECOND STAGE.

I move the Second Reading of the Local Government (Collection of Rates) Bill, 1926. This is only a temporary measure and is only in effect in one county at present, Kerry. It is not an obligatory Bill in any way. It is open to any County Council that adopts the measure to revert to the old system any time it pleases. The Bill will only remain in operation until 31st March, 1928, as the system is still in the experimental stage.

Committee Stage ordered for Friday, 11th June.
