Vol. 16 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CORK HOME ASSISTANCE APPLICATION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that the claim of Mrs. E. Broderick, of 5 Waggetts Lane, Cork, for home assistance has been rejected on the grounds that Mrs. Broderick is able to go out and work, and whether in view of the fact that Mrs. Broderick is a widow, and has three children under eleven years of age, one of whom, being in delicate health, requires constant attention, he will issue instructions that mothers of young children shall not be refused home assistance.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. Decisions of local authorities on individual applications for assistance are not brought under the notice of my Department, and I do not interfere in individual cases for the purpose of ordering relief.
