WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION AND DISTRIBUTION OF LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether in view of the serious congestion existing around Jourdanstown, Enfield, he will state if the Land Commission have taken any steps to acquire the lands of Thomas Cosgrave, Kilcorney, Jourdanstown, Enfield, for distribution among uneconomic holders and others in the district.

Mr. HOGAN

The Land Commission do not at present contemplate any action as regards these lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the application of Margaret McNamara, Park, Kinnegad, Co. Meath, for an allotment in the distribution of land under the Land Act, 1923, has received consideration, and whether, in view of the fact that the applicant is the daughter of a tenant evicted in October, 1882, he will have a decision in her case expedited.

Mr. HOGAN

The application of Margaret McNamara as the representative of her father, Michael McNamara, is under consideration by the Land Commission and will be dealt with when they consider a suitable opportunity arises.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the estate of C.C. Palmer, Co. Kildare, has been acquired and allotted by the Land Commission, and whether the application of Mr. Patrick Foley, Cole Hill, Kinnegad, for an allotment, has been considered, and with what result.

Mr. HOGAN

Proceedings are pending with a view to the acquisition of lands on the estate of Charles C. Palmer.

Patrick Foley's application for lands on this estate has been received and will be duly considered with other applications for division on this property.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state how far the negotiations for the purchase of the Rathbourne and Hartley estates, Ratoath, Co. Meath, have advanced, and if he can state whether the said estates will be divided before the coming winter.

Mr. HOGAN

Proceedings are pending for the acquisition of the lands of Kilrue, on the estate of Colonel Arthur Hartley.

The lands of Ballymore, on the estate of F.W. Rathbourne, have been published in a provisional list of lands as lands which will, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, be vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The owner has objected and his objection is under consideration.

It is not possible at the present stage of the proceedings to say when these estates, if acquired, may be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he is aware that repeated applications have been sent to the Land Commission to have the lands at Kilfane, Co. Kilkenny, on the Power Estate, acquired for division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men, and if he can state what action it is intended to take in the matter.

Mr. HOGAN

The Land Commission were requested to acquire the lands referred to. The lands have been inspected and the Commissioners have decided to take no action for the present regarding their acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if it is the intention of the Land Commission to inspect the lands at Bishops Lough and Tullaherin, on the Davis Estate, Co. Kilkenny, with a view to acquisition for division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men.

Mr. HOGAN

The lands in question have been inspected, and the Commissioners do not propose to acquire them.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if it is the intention of the Land Commission to have the lands at Lisdowney, on the Mountgarrett Estate, Co. Kilkenny, inspected with a view to acquisition for division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men.

Mr. HOGAN

The lands of Lisdowney referred to are purchased lands subject to a Land Purchase annuity. The Land Commission do not propose to take any action in the matter.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if the Land Commission proposes to have the lands at Stroan and Kilbline, Co. Kilkenny, on the Davies Estate, inspected with a view to acquisition for division.

Mr. HOGAN

The lands of Stroan, comprising 129 acres, are purchased lands, subject to a Land Purchase annuity. The Land Commission are having inquiries made with reference to the lands of Kilbline.
