Vol. 16 No. 12

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. - COMPENSATION CLAIMS.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why compensation has not been paid to Mrs. Annie Morrissey, Castlemaine Street, Athlone, in respect of her son, Volunteer Joseph Morrissey, who was killed at Clonmult, Co. Cork, on February 20th, 1921.

Compensation in this case was claimed by Mr. Thomas Morrissey, the father of the deceased Volunteer, and a gratuity of £50 was awarded to him under the provisions of the Army Pensions Act, 1923.

Is the Minister aware that this £50 has not yet been given?

£50 has been paid to Thomas Morrissey, the father of the deceased. Now Mrs. Morrissey is claiming it and we cannot pay two people.

The amount mentioned by the Minister for Defence has not been paid either to Mr. or Mrs. Morrissey.
