Vol. 16 No. 20

ARMY PENSIONS BILL, 1926—FIRST STAGE.

I move for leave to introduce the Army Pensions Bill, 1926, the full title of which is as follows:—

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Army Pensions Act, 1923, and to extend that Act in respect of the persons to whom and the circumstances in which pensions, allowances, and gratuities may be paid, to provide for the payment of pensions to wounded members of the Defence Forces of Saorstát Eireann and the payment of allowances to the widows and children of certain deceased members of the Defence Forces of Saorstát Eireann, and to establish an Army Pensions Board, and to make provision for the medical treatment of persons to whom wound pensions and disability pensions have been or may be granted, and for other purposes connected with the several matters aforesaid.

Will the Minister say when the Bill is likely to be printed and circulated?

I cannot fix the date, but it will be printed in good time and long before the Second Reading.

When the Minister speaks of "good time" does he mean relative to the time when this Bill was first promised?

No. Leave given. Bill read a First Time. Second Stage fixed for Tuesday, 16th November.
