Vol. 17 No. 4

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GRAZING LANDS IN CO. CARLOW.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he is aware that 66 acres of land on the Bessborough Estate, Bagenalstown, have been for a considerable number of years utilised as a grazing park by the people of the town, and if he is aware that repeated applications have been made to the Irish Land Commission to have this land acquired for a similar purpose, and whether it is intended to take any action in the matter.

The lands referred to in the question appear to be the lands of Kilcarrig, comprising 67a. 2r. Op., owned by Mrs. Drea, who purchased them from Mrs. Bagwell. The Land Commission instituted proceedings for the acquisition of these lands. An objection was lodged by the owner to their acquisition, which was heard by the Land Commission and allowed.
