Vol. 17 No. 9

ORDER OF BUSINESS.

The Minister for Justice wishes to make a general statement in connection with the Emergency Powers Act passed recently. We propose to-day to take as much non-contentious business as will occupy the Dáil until five o'clock, when it is proposed to move the adjournment, and on the motion for the adjournment to hear a statement from the Minister for External Affairs. It is proposed to take Order No. 11 to-morrow evening at seven o'clock, by request. If the other business finishes before seven o'clock, it is proposed to adjourn until that hour and then take up this matter. That is for the convenience of a certain Party.

Is it proposed to take the Army Pensions Bill to-morrow, and, if so, when is it proposed to circulate the Bill; and, if not, when will it be circulated and the Second Reading taken?

The intention at present is to ask that the Order be discharged and to ask for permission to introduce a new measure.

When is the new measure likely to be introduced, or when will we have the final decision of the Ministry with regard to this matter?

We hope to make application for permission to introduce it and to put into the possession of the Ceann Comhairle a copy of the new Bill.

That will mean that the Bill will be circulated at the end of the week if the First Reading is taken to-morrow.
