Vol. 17 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF CO. CORK ESTATES.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state the number of estates and the names of such estates and the total acreage thereof acquired for subdivision under the Land Act, 1923, in the county constituency of West Cork, and the number of evicted tenants, congests, and landless men to whom holdings were allotted in the above areas.

Mr. HOGAN

Up to the present date 1,557 acres of untenanted land in County Cork have been acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1923, for the purpose of distribution. Of this area 998 acres have already been distributed among 32 allottees; two of the parcels were allotted to evicted tenants and the remainder were utilised for the enlargement of existing holdings and the creation of new holdings.

Mr. MURPHY

Am I to understand that the answer referred to the County Cork? My question relates only to portion of the county.

Mr. HOGAN

I am almost certain that the answer relates to the portion indicated in the question, but I will make sure.

Mr. MURPHY

I am afraid not.
