Vol. 17 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TELEPHONE EXTENSION (CO. CORK).

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is in a position to sanction the extension of the telephone service from Eyeries to Ardgroom, County Cork.

The extension of the telephone or telegraph system to Ardgroom would involve the erection of about four miles of new pole route and double wire between that place and Eyeries at heavy capital and annual cost. The estimated yearly receipts from telephone calls or telegrams from Ardgroom would fall so far short of the expense of providing and maintaining the service that a telephone call office or a telegraph office would not be warranted, at present, at any rate.
