CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EXPENDITURE ON LOCAL SERVICES.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the total amount of expenditure on all local services, including all payments for technical instruction, agricultural instruction, or any other class of payment made by local bodies, but excluding Government grants for the years 1922-23, 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26.

In the year 1922-23 local bodies took credit for the payment of the grants withheld during the years 1920 and 1921, and as a result an abnormally low rate was struck for that year. The expenditure from rates for the previous year, 1921-22, was over six and three-quarter millions.

Will the Minister give me some indication of the items comprised from other sources?

Revenue derived from rents of labourers' cottages, electricity schemes, etc.
