Vol. 18 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ARREARS OF PAY.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that an agreement was signed on enlistment by the following ex-members of the Railway Protection, Repair and Maintenance Corps (Class 1), namely:—Edward Farrell, James Brennan, Patrick O'Neill, Patrick Murphy and Thomas Nolan, all residing at Inchicore, Dublin, which provided for payment for a seven-day week; whether his agreement lasted for the first two weeks after enlistment, and was then discontinued; and whether payment of arrears which they have claimed in respect of Sunday pay during the period of the service of these men will now be made.

The agreement in question provided for a weekly rate of wage and not for a daily wage. It was not discontinued. The claims for arrears of pay referred to by the Deputy cannot, therefore, be entertained.
