Vol. 18 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TIPPERARY UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIMS.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment insurance benefit was refused to Mr. Jeremiah Carroll, Bishopswood, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary.

Jeremiah Carroll, Bishopswood, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary, claimed unemployment insurance benefit on the 31st December, 1926, and at the same time claimed dependents' benefit in respect of his wife and children. His claim for personal benefit was at first disallowed, but ultimately the disallowance was removed and payment has since been made to him of all personal benefit to which he is entitled. His claim for dependents' benefit in respect of his wife and children was referred to the court of referees for their consideration. The court having considered all the facts of the case, recommended that dependents' benefit be disallowed, and the insurance officer has accepted the court's recommendation. In these circumstances, dependents' benefit in respect of Mr. Carroll's wife and children is not payable.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment insurance benefit was refused to Mr. Patrick Ryan, Doorish, Gooldscross, County Tipperary.

Patrick Ryan, Doorish, Gooldscross, made a claim to unemployment insurance benefit on the 2nd February, 1927. His claim was disallowed by the insurance officer under sub-section (ii) and (iii) of Section 7 (1) of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, on the ground that he was "not unemployed" and "not unable to obtain suitable employment." Mr. Ryan has appealed against this decision and the appeal will be heard by the court of referees at an early date.
