Vol. 18 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CURRAGH VEGETABLE MARKET.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that formerly a large number of plot-holders and labourers with gardens derived a good livelihood from the sale of vegetables and fruit in the Curragh district, and whether he would consider the possibility of establishing a market at the Curragh for such commodities before any new contract is arranged.

I am not aware of the extent to which the persons in question formerly obtained a livelihood from the sale of vegetables and fruit in the Curragh district. I am afraid that the contract, which I think the Deputy is referring to, has recently been arranged. It does not, therefore, appear to be possible to establish a market of the kind contemplated by the Deputy.

Will the Minister consider this matter sympathetically after this contract expires?
