Vol. 18 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - RAILWAYS ACT ARBITRATION.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the long delay that has taken place in the giving of decisions by the Standing Arbitrator appointed under the Railways Act, 1924, on questions under that Act already heard by him, and of the accumulation of claims still to be heard, and whether, in view of the fact that claims to compensation by men dismissed from the railway service as long as two years ago have not yet been decided he can make any arrangements to expedite the hearing and decisions of claims.

Arbitration under the third Schedule of the Railways Act is not a matter in which I have any function. I may say that from such inquiries as I have been able to make I do not understand that there has been any unavoidable delay.
