DEPUTY DETAINED IN CUSTODY.

I have received the following from Mr. Geo. P. Cussen, Senior District Justice, Dublin:—

I beg to inform you that Peadar O'Donnell, Teachta Dála, for Donegal, has been arrested under a warrant issued by me on the 22nd inst. to Superintendent Peter Ennis, Detective Division, Gárda Síochána, on the information of the said Superintendent; that the said Peadar O'Donnell did on various dates between the 17th September, 1926, and the 8th October, 1926, in the Metropolitan District solicit and incite divers persons, being the registered owners of land registered under the Local Registration of Title (Ireland) Act, 1891, subject to the payment of annuities to the Land Commission to conspire with him and with each other to commit an unlawful act, viz., to refuse to pay such annuities being lawfully due and owing by them to the said Land Commission.

The said Peadar O'Donnell appeared before me on the 23rd inst., and was remanded by me in custody until the 30th inst., he having failed to give an undertaking then to appear.
