Vol. 19 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THE SHANNON SCHEME.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he had received a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of smallholders in Portumna on the 24th April last, with reference to the effects on their property of the operation of the Shannon electricity scheme, and what action has been taken or is intended to be taken by his Department as a result of the receipt of that resolution.

Mr. HOGAN

I duly received a copy of this resolution and acknowledged its receipt on the 28th April. I have since informed the person acting as Honorary Secretary to those concerned that arrangements have been made to accelerate the settlement of compensation so far as practicable. The resolution refers also to the liability for annuities and for the payment of rates. These are not matters within my province, but I have communicated with the Land Commission and the Valuation Office about them.
