Vol. 20 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT IN CO. KILDARE.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will, in order to relieve some of the unemployment and destitution prevailing in Newbridge, instruct the Roads Board to proceed immediately with the work of widening the Liffey bridge on the Naas-Kildare trunk road.

It is not possible to place further commitments on the Road Fund at present. As stated in reply to a question from the Deputy on the subject on the 11th May last this bridge will have first consideration when the next allocation from the fund is being made to County Kildare.

Will the Minister give instructions to the Chief Engineer of the Roads Board and the County Surveyor to have plans, specifications and estimates drawn up so that there will be no delay when the money is available?

Yes, I will see that everything will be in order.
